Most people speak at a rate of approximately:

• 120-150 words per minute during normal conversation

• 100-130 words per minute when speaking slowly and deliberately

• 150-180 words per minute when speaking quickly

A script that looks short on paper may take longer than expected when delivered aloud, especially when pauses, transitions, and audience reactions are considered.
